Shape, sculpt, and create your own clay pieces in a relaxed, welcoming studio. A truly memorable experience, ideal as a gift or a regular creative escape. Your Hand-Building Pottery Experience — Step by Step Step 1 — Welcome & Get Settled Arrive, grab a drink, and get comfortable in our studio. Your tutor will introduce themselves, run through the session, and get everyone set up with their aprons and clay. Step 2 — Meet Your Clay Learn about the clay you'll be working with — how it feels, how it behaves, and the golden rules of hand-building. A quick warm-up to get your hands working and your creativity flowing. Step 3 — Pinch Pot Foundations Start with the most ancient pottery technique — the pinch pot. Your tutor will guide you through shaping a ball of clay into a beautiful, organic form using just your hands. Perfect for building confidence and feel for the material. Step 4 — Coil Building Take your skills further with coil building. Roll, stack, and blend coils of clay to build walls, add height, and create more ambitious shapes. This is where your piece really starts to take form. Step 5 — Sculpting & Personal Touches Add your own personality — texture, pattern, decorative details, or sculptural elements. Your tutor will show you simple tools and techniques to make your piece completely unique. Step 6 — Underglaze Painting & Wrap Up Choose your glaze colour and finish before you leave. Your tutor will talk you through the options so you can picture exactly how your finished piece will look. Step 7 — Finishing & Signing Your Work Smooth, refine, and sign the base of your piece. Your tutor will explain what happens next — how your work is dried, fired, and glazed ready for collection. Your creation will be kiln-fired and ready to collect within 3-4 weeks. What you'll get You will get your beautiful new piece of ceramics! Once you finish the workshop, your piece will be fired and glazed.
